Monuments to the Everday

Lightcatcher, Whatcom Museum of Art, Bellingham WA

2011

This exhibition had two parts. Outside, in the courtyard, The World's Largest Walk Thru Handbag. Originally made for the Bellevue Art Museum, this 14' tall purse is big enough to move into. Forged and fabricated Stainless steel Inside, a series of embroideries on handmade paper, mounted on wood. These embroideries are simple sketches of everyday objects, rendered in shades of gray, black, and white thread. I draw these first, then program my cnc embroidery machine to sew them.
