Safeco Field

Seattle, WA

1998

Commissioned by the Public Facilities District for the Seattle Mariners Baseball Stadium. Loosely based on real, historical players, I drew 24 different larger than life stainless steel ball players that are inset into gates and fences around the stadium. There are groups of catchers near the parking garage, pitchers along Royal Brougham Way, and above the NW entrance to the field, a large piece called "Game in Progress" that has an entire team, and the opposing batter, standing beneath an 80 foot long arc of a ball flying thru the air. "Batting Fence" has a batter hitting a variety of well known balls, each labelled with its nickname- Can of Corn, Pop Fly, and so on.
