Leaf Fence

Fence outside of City Hall, Tacoma, WA

2005

As you enter or leave the Tacoma City Hall in downtown Tacoma, you face this fence, part of the landscaping screening the parking lot from the plaza. The fence is made of hand forged stainless steel bars, arranged in giant leaf forms. The stainless has an intriguing texture, which encourages touching it. The giant leaves shimmer in the sunlight, but still glow on an overcast day.

3 panels, each 15 feet wide by 6 feet tall. 45 feet wide overall. Electropolished stainless steel.

Commissioned by Pierce County.
